" It was an amazing experience from beginning to end. I would highly recommend Rural Rivers to anyone looking for an affordable, fun and memorable canoe / kayak rental service."
— Shannon via Google

Had a wonderful time kayaking! This is the best experience I've had and I’ve rented kayaks many times. The owner is friendly and the fact that you can start from their private property makes it even better than other kayaking rental companies. I highly recommend Rural Rivers for anything outdoors!

Sturgeon River
Paddling the Sturgeon River is highly dependent on precipitation levels throughout the Winter, Spring and Summer.
Low river conditions make it quite unfavorable for boats. Beaver Dams and low/shallow spots, as well as algae and plant life also contribute to the difficulty.

When the water is low, its quite difficult to get from the Cunningham Bridge to Big lake.
all rentals include:

throwrope
bilge
pump
whistle
paddles
lifejacket
what to bring
All of our rentals come with paddles, life jackets, whistles & bilge pumps. Each canoe/kayak has limited storage space for additional items so a small dry bag is encouraged.
Water / Sunscreen / Bugspray / Hat / Sunglasses / Extra pair of clothes in case you get wet.
Sandals with straps are recommended, otherwise, shoes that you're not afraid to get muddy/wet will do the trick.
Small Cooler
Snacks / Lunch
Dry-Bag for Electronics
Garbage / Recycling Bag
